    I helped Mr. Sharp to plow the remnants of his water-melons to day. I worked till Friday night at Mr. Sharp’s for which I received $5.

    I went with Pap and Mother up to Swedesboro and to Mr. B. Rulon’s and spent the day. We had ice-cream and plenty of cherries.

    Cloudy and murky this evening morning. But Will, Charlie and I started for the high hills in one of John Steelman’s skiffs. We rowed up against the tide. Commenced to rain near noon and continued all the afternoon we got a little wet returning

    Work in the garden this morning. Went fishing this afternoon. Johnnie, Will, Mr. Norcross and 2 or 3 boys were with me on the opposite side of the creek fishing for perch. Caught several.
